I posted this on my website a couple of days ago but apparently, it was gone out of the blue. Figured this will be better off streamed here. Also, I put a linked on a recent wire frame I did for our school portal as well as a mock-up version for Rider Owned's website.

Will edit post in due time. I am in the process of revising my website and thank you to all for the feedbacks. I appreciate it immensely. Below was a poster made for a 14 year reunion incorporating the school's actual logo into the canvas.

Yes, it's India ink. I love those things. They are amazing and better than Prisma markers or any other if you ask me.

The first day/stage of outlining the space around the canvas. I am not sure if this will ever get done but I'll work on it the best way possible if given the chance.

On the other hand, my website is gaining traffic wahooooooot! I streamed all the images on Photobucket just so I get more space. I'm trying to add a news page and will do so in due time.

I have my fair share with graphic design snobs but good graves! do they need to exclude illustrators and such. Is it not part of the design interface to have a technical drawing skill? It saddens me to no avail.

Ai lurkers announcement:

On a brighter note, I just started working at the AI learning center as a tutor. And I have also been looking around for art curators to network with.

To all Ai students who's been lurking on this blog, stop by at the learning center if you need help with your projects and sorts. I'm at your service on Tuesdays at the Loop campus and Thursdays at the Mart. Be my design buddy and we have some nitpicking to do ;)

And oh, Subrinsky rocks and you know it! Below is an update of an old sketch I did a while back. I feel like it'll never be done but it's a revision nonetheless.

Type Treatment

These are preliminary layouts for my final project for VC236. The task was to produce six spreads about typography. I came up with the concept on how type treatment is being used in terms of communication.

And so I illustrated different variations of traditional inventions that are used in terms of communication through type. The rustic look to it was defined and rendered from the history of Typography. Most of the illustrations back in the day were hand drawn and so I decided that having that engraving feel will make it more authentic.

As to how the illustrations were processed, it’s plain and simple. Your layer effects are extremely important and will come in handy. It will make your life easier when done right. First I drew a train using a micron pen and scanned it. When you scan your pieces, it will always turn out dirty and that is not an option when you’ll be using it on your spread.

When you want this type of look to your pieces, these are quick and easy steps to follow using Adobe Photoshop:

*Scan a pen illustration.
*Use the “level” palette to clean your background.
*And now the fun part with the layer effect:
-Duplicate your image so that you will have three pieces in total (of the same kind). The first top most layer, use the effect “luminosity”, the second layer use “color burn” and lastly use “vivid light”.
-Make another layer with an orange fill for the background and move it all the way down with your layers.
- Congratulations! You’re done and good to go.

I know I mentioned that I will not be updating until August but I have a spare time this evening and my pc is running smoothly. It's not on its best condition but it is working as effecient as possible.

Transporting Typography

I apologize for not updating this blog for quite a while now. I would like to send my warmest thanks to those who sent me e-mails and messages over the days of my absence. I appreciate the kind thoughts and inspirations you showered upon me. I will try my best to reply to you soon.

My laptop has recently been spammed with spywares and I am in the process of debugging it. It's frustrates me to no avail. Hopefully things will go back to normal and I can get a hold of the internet as sufficient as possible.

This is one of the latest projects I've been working on for a 6 spread book about typography. Yes, going back to memory lane and learn about the history of the classical form of fonts. More updates will be posted in due time.

Delusional Online Trolls

This will be the dominant element for my next project. The task is to come up with a spread from a concept, as to what came to mind during an intense 10 minute meditation of complete silence.

As to those of you who are not familiar with "Trolls". These are people who are snarky and outrageously rude who leave comments on your blog, chatrooms, forums and spam away like there is no tomorrow. The character looks like a giant piece of turd which I think relates perfectly with my concept :D

I also went to my very first STA meeting yesterday. We'll be having a poster contest soon. FINALLY! I can't wait to see all the entries. It will be staggering for sure.

Sticking to the roots

We had a discussion about how graphic designers these days are lacking technical skills. So I decided, I won’t be doing any digital art for a couple of months and do all illustrations traditionally instead. It has been a while but variations would definitely do me good. I will post some of my previous digital artworks in a couple of days once I find the file where I stacked them all in.

This is just a simple perspective using lines and parallels.
