Hello World.

It's been a while since I last blogged and I need to step my game. My friend and I went to a bloggers meeting held here in Chicago a couple of weeks ago. There were interesting tid bits and there were many things I learned upon hearing HARDCORE bloggers giving out pointers on how to brand posts and such. Yeah. It was never my intention of making money or becoming famous but dyum... you should have seen those bloggers. They are all sorts of amazing.

Anyway, haven't made much progress for the last couple of months but hopefully I can finally stop being lazy and get my laptop fixed. That and buy a new digital tablet. Below are illustrations you may and may not have seen before.

Also, I am enabling the reply tab but I highly doubt that anyone will even care to reply. LULz. Please stop spamming :( For those projects I have lined up, I am on it. My laptop is broken and I can't do much work. I will get to it soon.

NEW LAYOUT!!!

*squeeeeee*

The overwhelming dullness of my previous layout was unnerving! I finally found a nice cute design that is easy on the eye and I just want to eat it. All things credit to the lovely Gisele Jaquenod who makes remarkable blog templates.

In other news, I will be posting new of my design work in the days to come. This is one of the recent illustrations I did and rendered using a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop.

Figuring ways of laying out a front cover of a magazine is harder than I thought. It Took me hours playing with variations of putting all the information together. It's atypical but it works well with the hierarchy and spacial zone. I am contended with the cover and hopefully there won't be a lot of mistakes for tomorrow's pre-critique.

As for the spread, it is still a work in progress and I will post the first version sometime tonight. Nothing spectacular about it but hopefully it is good enough to talk about for tomorrow. And also, I will be updating revisions for the Glessner's logo in due time. We are in the process of adding colors to it and working with typography.

Breathe and Relax

Vector lines rendered in Adobe Illustrator and colors manipulated in Photoshop. This is one of the illustrations I am working on for the Secrets of Traders at the Chicago Board of Trade. I have a ton more in my files and I will post a couple of it here in due time. Sorry for not posting in a while and not updating design briefs to some of my pieces.

I will be posting the spread I've been working on for the last few days. It is about the broadcast designer at WGN9 (The CW in Chicago), Renee Mcguinnis. I was able to set an interview with her and talked about her work experience as a graphic designer, broadcast designer, and a freelance fine artist. She's great and it came to a point that I became a big fan of her work (check it out here).

Crosses to Bear

This was done as a sample illustration for a potential freelance work at the Chicago Board of Trade buildling. The task is to produce one hundred illustrations for a 136 pages book about trade and stock market.

It has been a while since I used Illustrator CS for doing illustrations and simple vector forms. One must wonder, how about your BIGsmall project? Well folks, those are sketched in InDesign CS2. I have tried variations and never limit myself with regards to sofwares I can work on if the first choice doesn't work. I do not suggest producing vector line art in InDesign, that's what Illustrator CS is made for. I just tried it out for a change.

Jamie Kilstein

Kilstein is a stand-up comedian from New York who has been traveling around the world for quite some time now. He is best known for his gigs at Comedy Central and his latest appearance at BBC'S The World Stands up as well as the prestigious 2007 Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival.

I still need to do revisions for this and on top of that, working on a brochure for the theater *le sigh*.

All done in Illustrator CS2. The task was to come up with a name and company of your choice and make a logo for marketing and merchandises. Since most of my colleagues decided that they will be working with apparel lines and cosmetic products, I took a huge step of pursuing a camera company and all things related to it. With a given amount of time, I was lucky enough to illustrate the camera to the best of my abilty before the deadline.

This is more of a catalog where it shows the logos for, the actual (main logo), equipment, and printing merchandises.
